HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS OF TRINITY

      • August 11, 1955 – Trinity Lutheran Church began
      • October 9, 1955- Trinity was organized with 12 families, Services held at City Hall basement
      • 1956 – Services moved to 7th Day Adventist Church on South Main St.
      • March 1958 – Plans made to erect a chapel
      • June 8, 1958 – New chapel dedicated
      • Late 1961- Groundbreaking ceremonies held for new church
      • December 16, 1962 -Dedication service for new church
      • February 1963 – Church voted to join TALC
      • Late 60s and early 70s met with financial difficulties
      • 1972 – District President suggested that the church close
      • Fall 1973 – Altar Guild organized
      • October 1976 – Mortgage Burning Ceremony
      • June 28, 1977 – Purchase parking lots for parking
      • 1978 Parsonage sold
      • October 5, 1980- 25th Anniversary Celebrated
      • 1983 – Mission partner project – Hill City Community Church
      • 1984 – Cabin building at Outlaw Ranch
      • 1987- Constructed pitched roof and other renovations
      • 1988 – Church voted to join ELCA
      • November 1989 – First worship with pews
      • Fall 1990 – Began internship program at Lower Brule
      • 1994 – New sound system (paid for by Altar Guild)
      • October 1, 1995 – 40th Anniversary Celebrated
      • November 18, 1995 – First annual lutefisk supper
      • January 7, 1996 – Death of Pastor Kevin
      • 1996 – Additional parking lot and land purchased
      • June 5,1999 – Groundbreaking for new fellowship hall
      • November 14, 1999 – Laying of cornerstone on new fellowship hall
      • September 10, 2000 – Dedication of fellowship hall and church remodeling project
      • 2000 – Purchase of new Rodgers organ
      • July 2003 – Reshingling to replace hail damaged roof
      • July 2004 – New stain glass windows placed in sanctuary
      • October 9, 2005 – 50th Anniversary Celebration
      • September 2010 Moved Christian Education Hour from Sunday morning to Wednesday Evening
      • August 2011 – Reshingling to replace hail damaged roof
