Knitting and Quilting

Trinity women have been knitting hats and scarves to send off to Christmas at Sea. Those items will be blessed on Sunday, September 8th at the God’s Work Our Hands community services worship service.

This knitting project began several months ago with a gathering of women using the “Stitches and Scripture” booklet provided by Women of the ELCA.

We studied a Bible lesson read to us as we knitted.

When the four-week lesson and Bible study was finished, the women decided to continue knitting.

The “Stitches and Scripture” booklet is found at http://www.womenoftheelca.org/alphabetical-pages-58.php#S.

We chose to knit for Christmas at Sea as that is what is recommended in the booklet.

Information about Christmas at Sea and knitting patterns for hats, scarves, vests and socks, and a cloth ditty bag pattern are found at http://www.seamenschurch.org/christmas-at-sea.

We will continue to make quilt tops until February, when we will join the Kimball Protestant Parish to assemble and tie quilts.
